2019 UMSI Summit has ended
The theme for the UMSI Summit is “Partnering for the Kingdom,” with professional development tracks available for classical teachers, traditional teachers, administrators, family ministry practitioners, and program support faculty.

Returning to the 2019 UMSI Summit as keynote speaker is Dr. Kathy Koch, founder of Celebrate Kids, Inc.

Aristotle's Five Canon of Rhetoric and Topics present a framework for teaching composition skills. Strategies for teaching based on Invention, Arrangement, Style, and Memorization will be presented for the 7th - 10th grade Classical Composition classroom. Scoring and differentiation for optimum student development will be discussed. Session Learning Objectives Participants will: a) learn how to rotate instruction through the Five Canon of Rhetoric components based on student needs. b) understand Aristotle's Topics of Invention and how to create specific writing tools for each one. c) be able to create a simple rubric based on accumulating lessons through the semester and how to use it to reduce grading time and maximize student benefit from your hours marking papers. papers.
