The theme for the UMSI Summit is “Partnering for the Kingdom,” with professional development tracks available for classical teachers, traditional teachers, administrators, family ministry practitioners, and program support faculty.

Lacking time to work one-on-one with students in their reading and writing skills? You are not alone. In this session, participants learn the basics of Daily 5, an innovative approach to getting the most from your class time. Daily 5 consists of 5 different student-led activities, including time for conferencing with students to assess reading and writing skills. Come and learn about a solution to your time, conferencing, and classroom management problems.

Participants will
  1. Learn about Daily 5 and ways to implement it in their classrooms. 
  2. Discover how one-on-one conferences with students lead to more personalized reading and writing strategies for each student.
  3. Learn how Daily 5 and its emphasis on student choice leads to more efficient time and classroom management.
